As you see someone do something, or an aspect of their character is revealed, you could be stood thinking, “that is eleven-out-of-ten-phenomenal and has blessed me so much”, and, if you don’t express that, your thought will leave them completely untouched.
Or, you might think, “Ah, 6 out of ten, I’ll take that – it’s done me good.” And if you take the trouble of speaking out a “thank you”, a “well done”, an “I think you’ve got a gift in this”, or even a meaningful nod, then the recipient will be encouraged, lifted, spurred on. Walking away with their head a little higher, with that bit more motivation to plough on.
Unexpressed encouragement strengthens no one.
Disciple, let them know.
