Two ways to think about them…
First, like an athlete – lifting weights today, so they can lift heavier weights tomorrow. We engage in an activity within our power today, so that we’ll be able to do something not currently in our power tomorrow.
But it’s also like laying down on an operating table and saying to the surgeon, ‘please fix me’. We make space so the Lord can bring about changes in our lives that only He can.
