Despair

They’d followed Jesus’ instruction (Let’s go).

He was right there with them (in the boat).

Their emotional state was despair (“don’t you care if we drown!?”)

 

This is common. In the scriptures. In history. Along the path of discipleship.

Wanna gee me up with some verse from Romans?  The guy who wrote Romans went, on the path of discipleship, to Asia, and found himself, “under great pressure, far beyond his ability to endure, so that he despaired of life itself.” 2 Cor 1:8

You may find yourself despairing. You’re there, probably not through your disobedience, or some demon, but just because the path of discipleship tends to wind through that way in this age every now and again.

It is awful.

It’s not the end of the story.
