Disciple, the goal is to be so transformed into the likeness of the Master at the heart level that your genuine inclination is to do the right thing, in the right way, for the right reasons.
You’re not there yet.
So sometimes he’ll ask you to do the right thing, in the right way, for the right reasons even though it’s not the current disposition of your heart i.e. you’d really rather not.
Being a work in progress means a continual fight to take hold of that for which we are being taken hold of. We punch above our weight ethically, all the while begging the Lord, ‘change my heart! I’m not like you, I need you to change my heart.’
Fighting the good fight is often a sweaty wrestle against our own inclinations. This is the normal Christian life. This is the narrow path of discipleship. The scriptures, history and your own experience testify – it’s really hard.
Today friends, fight on.
