Even relatively early in the ministry of Jesus the common sense brigade had plenty of ammo with which to say, ‘let’s take a breather here’.
Spectacular successes the likes of which any sensible ministry leader would set up camp around. Milk the aftermath of the event, record the video testimony, write the book, get the sermon circuit spectacular sorted.
And heartbreaking failures. The kind of which you feel like you should hunker down afterwards for a few years. Lay low, lick your wounds, let the the dust settle.
Yet through both the riots and revivals, the setbacks and successes, the criticism and the clamour – Jesus presses on.
‘Lets go somewhere else, the nearby villages – so I can preach there also. That’s why I’ve come.’
